Easy Packing Tips

Plates and China

Plates should be packed vertically, like books on a bookcase. They’ll be less likely to break. Use bubble wrap or special packing paper as protection.  It should also be placed in a china/dish-pack box.  These boxes are made of heavy-duty construction which is recommended for dishes and other fragile items.  Ask your movers for box prices.

Electronics

Wrap electronics with big bubble wrap and use packing peanuts as a filler. This will allow for minimal movement during your move and the cushioning will absorb any shock.

Large Mirrors

Large mirrors should be placed in bubble, blankets and in cardboard. This allows for a safer transition between locations.

Packing Food

Pack foods that will definitely make it during the trip. If you plan on moving perishable goods, it is best to take them with you on you a vehicle.

Packing Small Appliances

Items such as blenders, small radios, toasters and other small appliances need to be packed with plenty of padding to keep their delicate electronic components safe from damage. Each appliance should be wrapped individually with bubble wrap and/or a blanket and packed in a box.

Packing Books

Books should be packed in a small box. By doing this, it minimizes the risk of the boxes breaking during the transport.  Boxes have varying weight capacities and books tend to wear heavier than the average odds and end.

Packing Away Clothes

Wardrobe boxes are ideal for moving clothing especially high-value items.   Think of them as mobile closets. The rule of thumb is 2 wardrobe boxes per 1 closet.  They have built-in racks to transport valuable articles of clothing such as suits and coats.
